‘Sleepy Hollow’ star Nicole Beharie joins ‘Jacob’s Ladder’ film with Jesse Williams
Nicole Beharie, one of the main stars of Fox’s Sleepy Hollow, was surprisingly “killed off” in the season three finale two weeks ago, but will remain busy, having been cast with Grey Anatomy’s Jesse Williams in a new imagining of the 1990 thriller Jacob’s Ladder.
The news came from Deadline, who reported that Beharie joins Michael Ealy in the new remake for director David M. Rosenthal. Williams has a major role in the film.
Beharie made her film debut in the film American Violet and also played Jackie Robinson’s wife opposite Chadwick Boseman in the biopic 42, but it was her role in Sleepy Hollow and the controversial death of her character that has thrown her into the forefront of headlines, they stated.
Jacob’s Ladder is being done by LD Entertainment from a script by Jeff Buhler and Sarah Thorp.
Mickey Liddell, Pete Shilaimon and Jennifer Monroe at LD Entertainment will produce alongside Alison Rosenzweig and Michael Gaeta of Gaeta/Rosenzweig Films (Fright Night). Will Packer will also produce via his Will Packer Productions banner, and WPP’s James F. Lopez will be executive producer. Ealy will also executive produce.
Production is expected to start in May, leaving Beharie plenty of time to make a return on the popular Ichabod Crane centric show.
The original Jacob’s Ladder film starred Tim Robbins, who played Jacob, a Vietnam veteran whose experiences prior to and during the war result in strange, fragmentary flashbacks and bizarre hallucinations that continue to haunt him. As his ordeal worsens, Jacob desperately attempts to figure out the truth.
Even with a ratings decline, it is possible to see Fox renew Sleepy Hollow for a fourth season, create a contrived explanation to bring Beharie’s Abbie Mills back into fold. Check back as news may come within the next few weeks Tom Mison will be a “hot commodity” for some other program.
