‘Sin City’ sequel ready to film this summer

A press release from Robert Rodriguez confirms that the “Sin City” sequel, officially titled “Sin City: A Dame to Kill For”, is going forward and is scheduled to begin filming this summer.

From the press release, published by Deadline, Rodriguez is quick to confirm that creator Frank Miller is on-board with the project.

“The first question I am always asked is “When will you make another Sin City? I have wanted to re-team with Frank Miller and return to the world he created since the day we wrapped the original, but have felt a duty to the fans to wait until we had something truly exceptional that would meet and exceed what have become epic expectations. A Dame To Kill For will certainly be worth the wait.”

Miller is also quoted in the press release:

“The first Sin City knocked out audiences who had never seen anything like it before. Robert Rodriguez and I are going to shake things up and deliver a ferocious film experience that is going to go even further than the first.”

2005’s “Sin City” was both a fan favorite and box office success, grossing nearly$160 million on a $40 million budget. (Source: IMDB)

IMDB offers this short synopsis of “Dame”: In the dark bowels of Sin City, Dwight plans to have his vengeance against the woman who betrayed him, Ava Lord, while Nancy is trying to cope with Hartigan’s death.

No casting details were provided, but the role of Dwight was played by Clive Owen, Jessica Alba was Nancy in the first film. Fans are already clamoring over who should be cast as Ava Lord.
