‘Shazam’ ‘Sandman’ coming in 2016 with ‘Flash/Green Lantern’ film in development
A new rumor is swirling about the evergrowing DC Universe of films as SDCC approahces.
NikkiFinke.com got the drop on the news that Warner Bros and DC Comics will be annoucing several of their projects’ release dates:
- Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice – May 2016
- Shazam – July 2016
- Sandman – Christmas 2016
- Justice League – May 2017
- Wonder Woman – July 2017
- The Flash and Green Lantern Team-Up – Christmas 2017
- Man of Steel 2 – May 2018
While isn’t confirmed, it would bode well for the studio to confirm up some of the news, especially the Shazam project, which has not been discussed previously.
Heading into the massive SDCC, this could really give them some positive buzz, especially if they can offer more insight on The Flash/Green Lantern team-up or casting of Aquaman and Lantern.
The source tells NikkiFinke.com that “Like Marvel’s The Avengers, there will be cameos of superheroes for future installments. The cameos will include the already known Cyborg and Flash. Green Lantern may be introduced. And Aquaman will be seen in the Justice League movie. Problem is, Warner Bros Pictures was still negotiating with the actors for those cameos and future roles, meaning major contracts for multiple JL/character films to follow. The studio didn’t want to move forward until they had more of this secure so they held off starting production for a few months. Seemingly simple reason, but the implications are pretty darn huge.”
Henry Cavill returns as Superman with Ben Affleck set to don the cowl as Batman. Gal Gadot (Furious 6) will play Wonder Woman against Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor. Also cast are Holly Hunter, Laurence Fishburne, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Callan Mulvey, Jeremy Irons, Tao Okamoto and TJ Norris.
Batman Vs Superman opens in theaters May 6, 2016.
