Shane Brumbaugh, Oregon man identified as victim in apartment shooting, neighbor says it’s ‘random’
A man was shot and killed at a Gresham apartment complex in Oregon Sunday afternoon and police are working on tracking down the suspects. Police said Monday the victim was 23-year-old Shane M. Brumbaugh.
Police were called after residents reported hearing gunshots. One neighbor said he saw a man running near the victim’s townhouse to a car that was parked nearby.
The suspects then took off.
An autopsy was scheduled for Monday afternoon.
“I personally think this was a random act of violence,” the neighbor, who said he was a friend of the victim and only wanted to be known as Ray, told KATU. “Like I said, he was just a good kid. He helped me remodel my kitchen floors, cabinets, counters – all of that. He just came over to help me.”
They did not release any information on a suspect or a description of a possible car involved.
Investigators said this was an isolated incident and neighbors in the area are not in danger.
Investigators are asking anyone who may have information about the incident to call the non-emergency line at 503-823-3333 or to leave a message on the Gresham Police Tips line at 503-618-2719.
