The trailer of Shahrukh Khan's Chennai Express receives mixed reviews.

The trailer of Shahrukh Khan’s Chennai Express receives mixed reviews.

The much-awaited trailer of Shahrukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer, “Chennai Express” was released by the team on June 13.

“Chennai Express” brings action-comedy director Rohit Shetty together with Shahrukh Khan for the first time. The movie also features Deepika Padukone, who made her debut in “Om Shanti Om” with Shahrukh Khan.

Audiences were keen to see SRK make a detour from his usual romantic rendezvous with something different. With Rohit Shetty in the hot seat – the masses were looking forward to mind-boggling one liners, action –packed scenes and mindless entertainment.

With all the hype in place, did the first look raise to the expectations of the audiences?

Tweepers have had a field day and shared their reactions on the social networking site. With a global presence, SRK boasts one of the biggest fan base across the world – very loyal adulating few who accept anything he does with open arms – and then there are the critics who leave no opportunity to evaluate and assess.

By the looks of it, “Chennai Express” is right in the middle – while there are many who welcome the comic relief, others find it tired, mundane and ridiculous.

Here are some of the tweets that stood out:

@SelvakP : Deepika’s padukone’s Tamil-Hindi accent is horrible and Ridiculous . Bollywood still does not get south India right, #ChennaiExpress

@Well_YouKnow : Chennai Express looks like a paisa vasool entertainer. Full on entertainment. Yayyiee!

@tarunbharti : Watched trailer of “chennai express”, Deepika is too hilarious in tamil dialect.

@neenabeanaa: Wow. Definitely not watching Chennai Express after that mess of a trailer.

@praticram:Deepika Padukone is coming out as a fine actor. After awesome performance in Cocktail and YJHD, she already sounds great in Chennai Express.

@AmruteshSayz: The only good part abt the Chennai Express trailer was the first 5 seconds where Shahrukh accepts he’s 40 yrs old.

@aitha1 : Okay watched CHENNAI EXPRESS Trailer liked it. this time no logic just enjoy Shetty’s Magic

@bavaaneh:Chennai Express: Instead of remaking a south indian masala flick, they decided to make a south indian masala flick in Hindi.

@Nil_Soul: Chennai Express trailer out. Deepika looks hot, SRK looks even older and the trailer looks even more terrible than expected.

@macsayz: Disappointed with the trailer of Chennai Express…looks like another money-spinner in Bollywood! Sad that it came from someone like SRK!
