Sequel News: Final ‘Expendables 3’ trailer, ‘Huntsman’ ‘Mummy’ and ‘Top Gun 2’
Get some info on the upcoming sequels: The Expendables 3, a sequel to Snow White and the Huntsman and a new Mummy film. Tom Cruise will also be back for a follow-up to Top Gun and producer Jerry Bruckheimer gives fans an update.
“The technology has changed the world” says Bruckheimer of the modern military technology he’s currently working into the treatment. “Maverick can think on his feet where drones can’t… Tom’s older, he’s more experienced – the same way a fighter pilot would be.”
There is no release date or casting news. Cruise has a long line of projects lined up, so a 2017 target date is likley.
Universal on The Mummy and The Huntsman
In a new press release, Universal moved The Mummy back in the summer schedule to make room for the Chris Hemsworth adventure in a film which is now titled The Huntsman directed by Frank Darabont of Walking Dead fame.
Hemsworth will be joined by Charlize Theron, reprising her role as the evil Ravenna, although Kristen Stewart will not be returning as Snow White. The Huntsman will “reveal how the fates of two characters, The Huntsman Eric and Ravenna, intersected before they met Snow White.”
The Mummy will be directed by Alex Kurtzman, who has plenty of experience when it comes to reboots. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Kurtzman is also working with Universal to develop a broader cinematic universe based on the studio’s monster movie franchises.
The Huntsman arrives April 22, 2016 release and Universal will delay the reboot of The Mummy until June 24, 2016.
