Second plane crash in the Tampa area leave 1 more dead

Blackwater Creek Airport in Plant City is the site of another plane crash in the Tampa Area.

A plane from the Bahamas to Kansas went down this week killing a family of six.

The pilot, William Lee Phillips of Lakeland, was alone in the aircraft when it crashed, according to sheriff’s spokesman Larry McKinnon.

Phillips third attempt to land on the grass runway Saturday morning in his single-seat Challenger aircraft landed hard on the belly of the fuselage, skidded to a stop.

The pilot was dead when the paramedics arrived.

The FAA will try to determine what caused the crash.

Phillips was 79.
