The amusement-park operator on Monday confirmed in a statement to the Orlando Sentinel that it planned to limit work hours for some of its 18,000 part-time and seasonal employees to 28 hours per week, down from 32 hours, beginning in November.
The Orlando-based SeaWorld, a public company that owns theme-park chain Busch Gardens and namesake marine parks in Orlando, San Diego and San Antonio hasn’t directly stated Obamacare’s mandate is the reason.
Senator Marco Rubio says if Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius wants to observe the negative effects of ObamaCare, she needs to pay a visit to the company.
Seibiulus will be in Orlando Friday to promote ObamaCare at the CVS Pharmacy Conference.
“I trust that you will be moved by the experiences these individuals will share with you, just as I have been moved by my many meetings with Floridians who have been similarly impacted by ObamaCare,” Rubio said.
Sea World Entertainment did say their decision to cut hours and elimnate health insurance for part time employees was due to Obamacare, although they refered to it as “Affordable Care Act” in their letter to employees. My wife will be losing both insurance and 20-30 hours a paycheck.
