SDCC: The Falcon and Winter Soldier Disney+ show will arrive in the Fall 2020
At San Diego Comic-Con yesterday, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige outlined the next phase of Marvel Studios’ films and projects, confirming that The Falcon and Winter Soldier original TV series will arrive on Disney Plus in fall, 2020.
Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan return to reprise the roles from previous Marvel films as Sam Wilson is the new Captain America, after old-Steve handed the star-spangled shield off to him at the close of Avengers: Endgame.
As previously reported Daniel Bruhl will return as Zemo, the villain from Captain America: Civil War, wearing his iconic purple mask from the comics.
“I can’t imagine what you all must be thinking. A villain seizes control of the panel and you expect me to threaten some unspeakable act of violence,” Brühl’s Zemo said in the footage shown at the panel. “I simply wanted to say hello to some old friends. Gentlemen, I’ll be seeing you very soon.”
During an interview with MTV, Mackie shared that he recently tried on his costume. He said, “I just had my first fitting…It looks really.”
During the panel, Mackie said that he “wants to know what makes Falcon tick… and ticked off.” So, whereas one Cap was all about being respectful, this new breed of hero might not be messing around.
According to Variety, the show is written by Malcolm Spellman (Empire), but The Wrap reported earlier this month noted that will be joined by John Wick writer, Derek Kolstad. Meanwhile, Deadline has reported that Kari Skoglan (The Handmaid’s Tale) will direct all six of the series’ episodes, but none of those things were confirmed during the Comic-Con panel.
Skogland has credits on shows like The Handmaid’s Tale, Boardwalk Empire, The Killing, Penny Dreadful, House of Cards, The Americans, and The Walking Dead, so we have high hopes for this series.
The show will be exclusively available on Disney’s new Disney Plus streaming service, which launches on Nov. 12, but isn’t expected to be part of the initial offerings, instead due sometime in fall 2020.
It was also noted early that Emily Van Camp will be back in some capacity as well, read HERE.
