SDCC 2015: ‘Agent Carter’ season 2 previewed, Hayley Atwell, James D’Arcy

Marvel’s Agent Carter heads into a second season and fans got an update at the 2015 SDCC panel, beginning with Jeph Loeb taking the stage wearing Carter’s red hat. Hayley Atwell and James D’Arcy were joined by showrunners Michele Fazekas, Tara Butters, and Chris Dingess to preview the show’s second season.

Fazekas sasys season 2 is a blend of “wealth and glamour and beauty” to the “grit and crime” of the new Los Angeles setting.

“I love telling those stories. I love ugly things happening in beautiful places. We’re very much being inspired by noir films,”

Now set in Hollywood, Agent Carter’s second season will have 10 episodes and become part of Atwell’s identity.

“She’s just kinda taken over my life in such an amazing way. She’s quite fearless.”

Atwell appears briefly in a flashback in Ant-Man before passing away in next summer’s Captain America: Civil War. Agent Carter’s impact is broad and wide and Atwell discussed how it all began.

“Well I just loved her, and I really hoped that the writers would get her right. I was really adamant about that. And I think I just came out, after that first time, going ‘Ahhhh, she’s amazing!’ And I had nothing to say but compliments.”

D’Arcy’s Jarvis requires a bit more comedy than the actor was used to, but he’s adapting.

“Having read the script, it was so funny what they had already written for Jarvis. And I’ve never actually had an opportunity to do anything comedic on film before. And I wasn’t at all sure that I could do it. But it turns out all I had to do is be my usual wallian self, and it would work out just fine.”

It was interesting hearing how the creators were flattered and pleased to see Agent Carter cosplay and their love of fan art.

They also confirmed that the music for Marvel’s Agent Carter is being released for purchase this fall.

Season 2 will begin in early 2016.
