Scott Walker: President Obama too ‘intimidated’ to meet with China
GOP presidential candidate Scott Walker repeated his call Wednesday for President Barack Obama to cancel his official state visit with the president of China, saying the move sends the wrong message and implied that the Obama administration is intimidated by China.
“…the White House Press Secretary was asked about my comments asking the president to cancel the state visit from Xi Jinping, the leader of China. He didn’t comment, said he wasn’t going to comment. This suggests to me he is intimidated. I’m not intimidated to talk about China…The bottom line is a state visit is something special and extraordinary, a reward the U.S. provides to allies, friends, and partners of the U.S.,” Walker said to an audience in Iowa.
“If anything, we need to take China to the woodshed.”
“Those are things governors should not be involved in,” the White House hopeful told reporters at a stop in Greenfield, southwest of Des Moines. “When (Wisconsin state officials) do trips other places, we don’t talk about foreign policy. Those are the proper role of the federal government, the president, the State Department and others there. When we go abroad, we talk about trade-specific things.”
Walker in 2013 led a trade mission to China and while there he and Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad met with Chinese President Xi Jinping. Walker has bragged about being one of the first elected U.S. officials to meet with the leader, whom Branstad has known for years.
“In one reckless statement on China, Scott Walker demonstrated he doesn’t understand Iowa’s agriculture industry, trade policy or foreign policy,” said Iowa state Rep. Bruce Bearinger, a Democrat from Oelwein, Iowa.
Walker repeated the language today.
“We’re giving them one of our highest honors at a time when we probably should be taking China to the woodshed for the fact that just recently — not years ago, when I was there — but just recently they were involved in cyber attacks against the federal government of the United States,” Walker told reporters on Thursday.
“As great of a field there is, and there are 17 really outstanding candidates … what makes me unique is if you want someone who has fought and won and actually gotten results and done it without compromising common-sense conservative principles, I’m the only one in the race who can say they’ve done that,” Walker said.
Unfit to be president, he is a Koch Brothers Flunky that wants everyone to work for nothing so corporations can make more money. The idiot criticizes Obama for meeting with China something he did himself.
