Scott Elrod talks ‘Home Run,’ casting in ‘Argo’ ‘Lone Survivor’ and appearing on ‘Anger Management’

EXCLUSIVE: Actor Scott Elrod, who starred in 2013’s Home Run, spoke with The Global Dispatch/Dispatch Radio about his role in the film as well as his parts in Argo and Lone Survivor.

Scott Elrod Home Run photo“I always look forward to a good challenge and I think it’s something  unfortunately so many people can relate to,” Elrod says of the appeal of Cory Brand and the themes of Home Run.

He praises the creators, producers and writers who bring together some real challenging themes and Elrod discusses many of these, especially the lack of a perfect, packaged ending – “I think it’s a complement. We’re dealing with real issues.”

As the interview shifts gears, Elrod reveals a truly entertaining and remarkable back story which led to his casting in Argo as Achilles Cruz, the “Buck Rogers” inspired character in the faux film at the center of Argo’s drama.

One impressive aspect from the interview is his opinion of director Ben Affleck and co-stars John Goodman, Alan Arkin and others, who brought this great film to life.

Noting his military background, Elrod was truly thrilled with the role in Lone Survivor, praising Marcus Luttrell and director Peter Berg.

Scott will next be seen in an upcoming episode of Anger Management on FX – be sure to check that out!
