Saudi Arabia reports new MERS coronavirus case in Riyadh citizen
The Saudi Arabia Ministry of Health (MOH) has reported a new case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) in a citizen of Riyadh, according to a Saudi MOH press release today (computer translated).

The 67-year-old individual has underlying chronic disease and is currently undergoing treatment in the hospital intensive care unit.
No other details are available at this time.
This brings the total MERS-CoV cases and deaths in Saudi Arabia to 144 and 59, respectively.
Globally, from September 2012 to date, this should bring the total to 181 laboratory-confirmed cases of infection with MERS-CoV, including 77 deaths.
In related news, a recent study published in the journal, Transboundary Infectious Diseases, demonstrated that camels from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2005 showed signs of infection with Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV) or a closely related virus.
