Saudi Arabia confirms five new coronavirus cases, France reports first coronavirus death
The Saudi Arabia Ministry of Health (MOH) reported five new cases of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus (MERS-CoV), or novel coronavirus in the east of the kingdom, according to a Saudi MOH news release May 28.
Health officials say the five patients, ages 73 to 85 years, all have underlying chronic health conditions.

This brings the total MERS-CoV cases in Saudi Arabia to 35. Globally, the total cases now stand at 49.
In addition in France, the French Health Minister, Marisol Touraine, announced the death of the first MERS-CoV patient in the European country..
The 65-year-old man became ill on 23 April 2013 and later developed respiratory symptoms. Laboratory confirmation with nCoV was confirmed on 7 May 2013 by Institut Pasteur.
He reportedly traveled to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Minister Touraine offered her sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. In addition, the Minister acknowledged the commitment of medical and nursing staff involved with the patient and his family.
This bring the total death toll from MERS-CoV to 24.
