Russia compares Syria situation to Iraq, Western allies to attack within two weeks according to report
The Russians are warning of the consequences of an attack on Syria as talks continue concerning military intervention. In fact, the Russian Foreign Ministry, who continue to say that the suspected chemical attack was pre-fabricated by the rebels in order to frame the Syrian government, compare the this situation that led up to the Iraq war a decade ago, according to an ABC News report.
Foreign Ministry spokesman, Alexander Lukashevich said statements by the United States, France, and Britain that blame government forces are “completely ignoring many facts pointing to the fact that this action as a provocation of the irreconcilable opposition.”
The Independent reports that Western countries, including Britain, are planning to take unilateral military action against the Assad regime within two weeks in retaliation for its alleged use of chemical weapons on civilians in Syria.
British officials familiar with the situation say that they didn’t rule out seeking UN support for the war, but also don’t expect to actually get that support, and are prepared to ignore the UN and attack anyhow.
It’s not just Russia advising against foreign intervention in Syria. This weekend, Tehran warned US intervention would carry “harsh consequences”.
The threats are not only against the US and Western allies, but also Israel. The Times of Israel reports that senior Syrian official on Monday issued a first direct warning that if attacked, his country would retaliate against Israel. Khalaf Muftah, a senior Baath Party official who used to serve as Syria’s assistant information minister, said in a radio interview that Damascus would consider Israel “behind the [Western] aggression and [it] will therefore come under fire.”
The White House has determined there is “very little doubt” that the Assad regime is responsible for the alleged chemical attack.
Secretary of State John F. Kerry on Monday condemned Syria’s reported chemical weapons attacks as a “moral obscenity” and declared that the Obama administration intends to move quickly to hold the Syrian government accountable.
At the end of the movie, ‘The Bridge On The River Kwai,’ when the bridge was blown up
and the train crashed into the river, the British officer watching it all from up above could
only say, “Madness!! Madness!!” Syria is about to become a ‘Bridge on the River Kwai’
moment!!! And the ‘madness’ will be if the U.S. and its NATO allies attack Syria! It could
be the start of World War III because Russia may not be bluffing when ‘warning of the
consequences of an attack of Syria.’ Russia has been rearming its military for a number
of years now, and has the weaponry (from mobile SS-18 ICBMs to SS-N-22 ‘Sunburn’
supersonic cruise missiles as well as weapons we don’t even know about) to inflict
very serious damage on this country if war comes… And you can be certain that the
Russian warships stationed in that area of the Mediterranean have their missiles armed
with nuclear weapons!!
Madness!!! Madness!!!
