‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer the Musical’ is fabulous fun for Christmas
This holiday season, the youthful joy and merriment of the television special “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” comes to the stage in a fabulous way via “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer the Musical”. The show is practically a word-for-word reenactment of the tv special but incorporates bits of film footage with the live action portions resulting in a delightful experience for all.
While all angles of the production are wonderful, I must give a special nod to the wardrobe and set designers who were able to take a claymation production and translate it to a stage production seamlessly. I was in awe of the Santa Claus and Yukon Cornelius characters who looked like living replicas of the original version.

As the familiar songs of the 1964 holiday classic rang through the venue, I looked around and saw smiles on the faces of young and old. Audience members sang along with the songs, especially the grand finale during which the entire audience sang along and clapped to “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer”. This holiday classic will delight children, people who have children, people who like children, people who once were children…..pretty much everyone who grew up watching this story on tv year after year would find themselves pulled into the story once again.
Another bonus of this charming production is that it exposes young children to the theater. You’re never too young to begin appreciating this distinctive form of entertainment. With tour dates throughout December and across the country, consider adding this special event as another part of your holiday activities this year. Check out www.rudolphthemusical.com for tour dates and additional information. You might just find that this experience for you will “go down in history”.
Overall ‘Rudolph the Musical’ earns 3 1/2 out of 5 stars
