“If Sin City 2 happens, it’ll happen this year. I’d also love to do that in 3D – an idea that would translate really well to that format.”
Rodriguez went on to say that the sequel would possibly tie-in A Dame to Kill For, a story in the Sin City comic book series by Frank Miller .
But fans of the first film shouldn’t hold their breath – Rodriguez has been speaking of making the hotly-anticipated sequel for six years now.
Based on the acclaimed Frank Miller graphic novel series, Sin Citywas released to critical and commercial praise, raking in an estimated $150-million worldwide. It featured a star-studded cast including Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, Rosario Dawson, Clive Owen, Benicio del Toro and the late Brittany Murphy.
Quentin Tarantino and Miller were guest directors, with Tarantino reportedly being paid $1 for his day’s work as a joke between him and Rodriguez.
He also announced plans for two sequels to his 2010 movie “Machete”, telling fans, “Even if we don’t get to three, I’m at least making the trailer for three because it’s so good. I would put it even before part two. Machete goes into space! It’s like Moonraker.”
The titles for the “Machete” sequels are currently being shopped as “Machete Kills” and “Machete Kills Again”.
