Rifftrax ‘Miami Connection’: A great roast of an 80’s B-movie
The few who are familiar with the 1987 B-movie Miami Connection will know that a roasting by the Rifftrax team could only make the movie more entertaining and much funnier. The former Mystery Science Theater 3000 stars Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett, gathered for a special screening, broadcast live via Fathom Events, to tear into the 80’s flick.
The ridiculous concept of a martial groups playing bad 80’s rock battling the motorcycle gang of ninja just reeks of parody material.
Starring and created by P.K. Kim, Miami Connection spends about 18 seconds in Miami before moving the “action” to central Florida where the razzing shifts into full throttle.
It’s hard to not laugh at the film, let alone the added jabs at Kim’s need for subtitles, ‘Orpin’ references, several homo-erotics innuendos.
There is no better way to enjoy a horrible film than the “professional jokes” from the MST3K geniuses. A great night, sure to entertain and change your perspective on the definition of “bad movies.”
The trio balances the jabs against the absurd moments in the film better than some of their other projects. Unlike other projects, there were never any sound issues or difficulties hearing the jokes.
Overall Rifftrax: Miami Connection receives 4 out of 5 stars
