Rifftrax makes laughable ‘Sharknado 2’ funny and entertaining
The only thing that could save Sharknado 2, and the careers of 90210 stars Ian Ziering and Tara Reid, is getting roasted by the Rifftrax team.
Michael J. Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett, formerly of Mystery Science Theater 3000 fame, gathering for a special screening of the SyFy film, broadcast live via Fathom Events, to tear into the Sharknado sequel.
The ridiculous concept of sharks being swept up into the fury of a massive storm and dropped onto the unprepared city below moves from Los Angeles to New York.
Immediately the Rifftrax team is served up softballs for jokes as the attacks begin during the cross-country flight, as the carnage lines up the corpses of “D-level” celebrities: Airplane‘s Robert Hays, fan favorite Wil Wheaton and Kelly Osbourne.
Wouldn’t want to spoil the jokes, butguys don’t get distracted by the “cameos” and keep razzing Tara Reid, her plastic surgery or the absurd nature of the story.
It’s hard to not laugh at the film and keep up with their zingers.
There is no better way to enjoy a horrible film that the “professional jokes” from the MST3K geniuses. A great night, sure to entertain and change your perspective on the SyFy franchise.
You may even look forward to Sharknado 3….well, at least the Rifftrax Sharknado 3 which would certainly follow.
There is massive downtime in the film, which slows down the momemtum of the gags, but trust me, that’s nothing a circular saw and a shark attack can’t solve.
Overall Rifftrax: Sharknado 2 receives 3 1/2 out of 5 stars
Rifftrax: Sharknado 2 will be shown on Thursday, July 16, at 7:30p.m. local time.
