Ridley Scott wants to keep ‘Alien Paradise Lost’ ‘for himself’ as he talks regrets
Director Ridley Scott says he shouldn’t have let the Alien series “get away” from him and plans on keeping the Prometheus sequel(s) in his control.
“I’m trying to keep this for myself,” Scott told IGN, talking about the movies planned to follow his 2012 Alien prequel, the first of which was recently re-titled to Alien: Paradise Lost and is due in 2017.
“I let the other one [Alien] get away from me – I shouldn’t have.”
“Prometheus 2 will start getting shot in February and I’ve already begun now so I know what the script is,” Scott explained to the site. “Then there will be another one after that and then maybe we’ll back into Alien 1, as to why? Who would make such a dreadful thing?”
Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender are set to return for Alien: Paradise Lost, slated for a May 30, 2017 release.
UPDATE: At the AFI Film Festival, Ridley Scott sat down with Scott Foundas for an hour-long conversation spanning Scott’s entire career. While the sequel to “Prometheus” has been going by the name Alien: Paradise Lost, during the AFI talk, Scott casually mentioned a new title as an aside – Alien: Covenant.
