Ridley Scott details ‘Blade Runner 2’ scene, a female main character
Thirty years later, the Blade Runner director, Ridley Scott, will return to Sci-Fi with Prometheus, a mysterious film set in the Alien universe. Now, while promoting the film, the English filmmaker is also talking about the upcoming follow-up to 1982′s Blade Runner.
Talking with Collider in an interview posted on Monday, Scott details a scene visualized for Blade Runner 2.
“There’ll be a vast farmland where there are no hedges or anything in sight, and it’s flat like the plains of—where’s the Great Plains in America? Kansas, where you can see for miles. And it’s dirt, but it’s being raked. On the horizon is a combine harvester which is futuristic with klieg lights, ‘cause it’s dawn. The harvester is as big as six houses. In the foreground is a small white clapboard hut with a porch as if it was from Grapes of Wrath. From the right comes a car, coming in about six feet off the ground being chased by a dog. And that’s the end of it, I’m not gonna tell you anything else.”
Scott is famous for his visuals, Blade Runner being a prime example, and his brief scene description will certainly excite Sci-Fi fans.
While little is known about the planned film, Hampton Filcher is also set to return to create the screenplay for Runner 2, with Scott directing. The main character will be a female protagonist, with a male character in the LAPD.
During some promotions for Prometheus, Scott did confess that it would “be amusing” to have Harrison Ford return for the sequel, likely in a cameo or brief appearance.
Prometheus stars Charlize Theron, Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, Guy Pearce, Logan Marshall-Green, Rafe Spall, Sean Harris and Patrick Wilson and opens in theaters June 8, 2012.
