Review: ‘Swan Lake’ Royal Opera House captures scale and beauty of Tchaikovsky classic
Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake is one of the most popular and cited ballets in history. The Royal Opera House, bringing the classic to life, delivered the grand scale around the talented French principal ballet dancer Zenaida Yanowsky capturing Odette/Odile perfectly.
Swan Lake presents a classic “good vs evil” tale with music that is recognizable to all. The ROH delivers on their attempt to bring the 1890’s style to life on a 2014 stage.
Nehemiah Kish surprised audiences delivering a very fluid performance, which will cement Kish as a rising star out of the ROH.
The corp de ballet truly amazed and sets the ROH above other productions.
The ROH live cinema and Fanthom entertainment delivered a wonderfully close look at the performers while keeping wide views to capture the massive scope of the corp moving with perfect execution.
Overall Swan Lake by ROH (via Fathom) receives 4 1/2 out 5 stars
