Publix announces recall of Farm Rich Frozen Snack Items
Lakeland, FL supermarket chain, Publix, has announced the recall of Rich Products Corporation, Farm Rich Frozen Snack Items, after the manufacturer issued a recall of nearly 200,000 pounds of various frozen, not fully cooked snack treats because they may be contaminated with E. coli O121, according to a Publix recall notice April 3.
The following items were available at Publix:
- Farm Rich Mini Quesadillas UPC 41322-35635
- Farm Rich Mozzarella Bites UPC 41322-37443
- Farm Rich Philly Cheese Steaks UPC 41322-35634
- Farm Rich Mini Pizza Slices UPC 41322-35643
Last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced the investigation of a multistate outbreak of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli O121 (STEC O121) that has sickened at least 24 people in 15 states.
The New York State Department of Health, Wadsworth Center Laboratory, identified the outbreak strain of E. coli O121 in an opened package of Farm Rich brand frozen mini chicken and cheese quesadillas from an ill person’s home.
