President Trump to take aim at NAFTA, will meet with Justin Trudeau, Enrique Pena Nieto, Benjamin Netanyahu and Paul Ryan

US President Donald Trump pledged Sunday to begin renegotiating the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) in upcoming talks with the leaders of Mexico and Canada. The President reached out to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to set up a February meeting and will talk with House Speaker Paul Ryan today, one-on-one, to kickoff his tenure as President of the United States.

Trump showed off a personal letter from Barack Obama, saying “we won’t even tell the press what’s in that letter,” again mocking the media. These comments came at a swearing in ceremony for key White House staff as confirmed plans to meet with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexico President Enrique Pena Nieto to discuss changes to NAFTA, the trade deal he claims has shipped U.S. jobs to those other countries.

“We will start some negotiations having to do with NAFTA. Anyone ever hear of NAFTA? I ran a campaign somewhat based on NAFTA,” he said. “Mexico has been terrific, actually, and the president has been really quite amazing.”

“I think we’re going to have a very good result for Mexico, for the United States, and for everyone involved,” Trump said Sunday.

Today will begin by signing executive orders, likely targeting Obamacare, taxes, public spending projects and federal funding of abortions.

Trump’s public schedule for Monday includes separate meetings with corporate and union leaders, an intelligence briefing, lunch with Vice President Pence, a reception for congressional leaders and a one-on-one meeting with House Speaker Paul Ryan.

The President also spoke with Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from the Situation Room, which he described as “very nice,” but let his White House reveal the details: Iran, the Islamic State, and the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.  Trump invited Netanyahu to Washington in February.
