Two new wild poliovirus 1 (WPV1) cases were reported in the past week, with onset of paralysis on 6 and 25 January.

In October 2013, Cameroon reported it’s first polio case since 2009. Four cases were reported last year.

The other country to report new WPV1 cases during the past week was Pakistan.

Three new WPV1 cases were reported in the past week, all from Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA – two from North Waziristan and one from South Waziristan).

The total polio cases reported in 2014 now stands at 33.
