Police still seeking answers in death of Michael Easton, teen found dead on Scotland highway
Police are trying to piece together the final moments of Michael Easton’s life, whose body was found hours after he was due home.
Easton, age 13, are seeking help from the public as authorities believe the events that led to his death happened a short time after he was last seen.
They urged anyone who knows anything about his death to contact police.
Detective Inspector Graeme Hendry said: “We are still in the early stages of trying to establish what happened to Michael and we believe motorists who were on the M9 around 9.50pm on Friday night can be of assistance to us.
“Anyone who was travelling on the road at this time and remembers seeing anything that can help our investigation is asked to contact police on 101 immediately.
“Similarly, any driver or vehicle passenger who believes that they may have witnessed anything, or been involved in a collision in or around this time is also asked to come forward.”
In a statement released through the police, his family said they had been left “utterly devastated”.
The family statement said: “We have all been left utterly devastated by the death of our beloved Michael and are still trying to come to terms with our loss.
“Michael was a quiet and well-behaved boy, who never caused any trouble and who would have helped anybody. He loved his family deeply.
“He was a popular young boy who had a keen interest in biking. One of his prized possessions was his scooter and he and his friends spent several hours each week riding around Grangemouth.”
They added: “It is difficult not knowing exactly what happened to Michael and we would ask that anyone who knows anything that can help the police with their investigation to pick up the phone.
“We would finally like to thank everyone for all of their kind words and messages of support at this very difficult time. It means a great deal to us all and shows how fond the local community was of Michael.
“However, we would now ask our privacy be respected to grieve for our son, brother and friend.”
