Police question ‘Person of Interest’ in killing of Daja Robinson, 50 Cent helps with the funeral cost
In an update to the story of the tragic killing of a 14-year-old Queens teen last weekend, New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said Thursday that a person of interest is being questioned in connection with the death of D’aja Robinson, according to a CBS News report late last week.
The suspect, whose name was not immediately released, was picked up early Thursday and was being questioned about the senseless murder of D’aja (Asia) Robinson at the 113th Precinct in Jamaica, Kelly said.
No charges have been filed.
Last Saturday evening, the teen was shot in the head and killed on a bus in Jamaica after leaving a Sweet 16 party with some friends.
The yet unknown gunman fired off at least nine rounds at the bus. Police don’t believe that D’aja was the intended target, but an innocent bystander. In fact Kelly said. “The 14-year-old girl had nothing to with this. It’s a terrible tragedy, but it’s indicative of the fact that we just have too many guns and too many young people with access to these guns.”
The funeral for D’aja Robinson, aka Asia, was held Friday at the Greater Allen A.M.E. Cathedral in Jamaica, N.Y. Famed rapper 50-cent is reported to have paid for the horse and carriage that carried the casket of D’aja Robinson.
The funeral drew an estimated 2,500 people.
