Planned Parenthood had teens make condom turkey for Thanksgiving
A story which didn’t make it to the headlines until after the holiday, but now has riled more critics of Planned Parenthood, involves the condom turkey and Talking Turkey: 8 Easy Steps for Discussing Reproductive Health and Justice at the Holiday Table,
The turkey, sporting condom feathers and a condom wattle, drew such comments as “At least it’s protected for the Thanksgiving ‘stuffing,’” and “Remember to protect yourselves, kids. . . Even if all you’re stuffing is a turkey.”
One teen commented, “This is the kind of holiday I always dream of” after the image went viral across the Internet.
Sex talk at the dinner table was also part of the educational campaign.
“Going home or getting together with relatives for the holidays is always a stressful time, but if your family members are the type who regularly protest outside the local Planned Parenthood, you know that this holiday is going to be a doozy.”
Critics have targeted the funding for Planned Parenthood, with the US House of Representatives voting in 2011 to end federal funds to the group based on their abortion practices and questionable educational programs.
The bill failed in the Senate and the group to push the envelope of the sexual education glass ceiling with efforts to reach younger and younger children.
