‘Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales’ delayed, may be moved to 2016
Disney has delayed filming on Pirates Of The Caribbean 5, with rumors emerging that the film may be pushed back into a 2016 release date.
Initially slated to open in the July 10, 2015, the film, titled Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales will now likely be shelved for a year – the studio not happy with the project.
Some sources say Jeff Nathanson’s script isn’t quite ready. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer told The Hollywood Reporter, “We have an outline everyone loves but the script is not done.”
The move comes in the aftermath of The Lone Ranger’s failure at the box office this summer. Disney has said that the $250 million-plus production from the team behind the Pirates movies could lead to a $190 million write down for the studio.
Plot details are non-existent at this stage, although it has been rumored that the film will appear under the title Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales but that may also be changed.
Kon-Tiki directing duo Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg will helm the project, while Johnny Depp will return once more for a fifth outing as Captain Jack Sparrow.
