‘Pirates 5’ gets official name, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales,’ set for 2015
Walt Disney Pictures intends to release a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean movie, starring Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow , in time to compete in the busy Summer 2015.
Disney recruited a new writer forPirates 5 to take over from Ted Eliott and Terry Rossio, who scripted the second, third and fourth Pirates flicks.
The fifth installment will be directed by two people who are new to the blockbuster movie-making industry: Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg.
During an interview with This is Infamous, the duo confirmed the name of the new film.
The fifth film will be called Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, referencing both a familiar line from the theme park ride, and the fact that the entire movie will tie in the all-star cast from the previous films.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer confirmed that the supernatural elements of the franchise would remain and that part of the movie would be set in New Orleans.
Johnny Depp will of course be reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, and Geoffrey Rush is expected back as Barbossa. Initial reports indicated that Penelope Cruz, introduced in the fourth film, would return, but that now seems questionable.
