Piranha! Brazil girl devoured in rare attack
In what is considered a rare occurrence, a 6-year-old girl from Brazil had her legs eaten by the vicious carnivorous fish.
The Sydney Morning Herald reports Adrila Muniz was with her grandmother and four other children on the Maicuru river in northern Brazil when the canoe capsized.
Account of the tragedy say the other three children were saved; however, young Adrila was attacked at the lower half of her body by the piranhas.
According to the website, BioExpedition, The piranha has a terrible reputation but they aren’t people killers like legends and movies tell us.
They are fresh water fish found in the rivers of South America. The Amazon Basin is the main location where you will find them residing. They tend to stay in large schools but they can be very aggressive there.
In 2012, a five-year-old Brazilian girl was attacked and killed by a shoal of piranha.
