Phoenix are seeking answers in the murder case of yo-yo champion Nathan Dewitt
Phoenix police are searching for answers Thursday as to why one of the nation’s top yo-yo players was shot late Christmas night before he crashed his car into a tree.
Nathan Dewitt, age 23, crashed his 1997 Ford Explorer into a tree and the vehicle rolled over. Dewitt began crawling and was taken to a nearby hospitah where he succumbed to his injuries, said Sgt. Tommy Thompson, a Phoenix police spokesman.
Authorities don’t know what happened. It’s “possible that he was at a party sometime before the collision occurred,” says Phoenix Sergeant Tommy Thompson in a news release.
A blog that covers competitive yo-yoing called YoYoNation.com posted a memorial for Dewitt and said he was the 2005 Pacific Northwest Yo-yo Champion and a yo-yo instructor.
Anyone with knowledge of the shooting is asked to call the Phoenix Police Department Violent Crimes Bureau at 602-262-6141 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO.
