Phillip Faillers, Alex Faillers identified as California plane crash victims
Amador County Undersheriff James Wegner confirmed the identity of the two victims in the plane crash as Phillip Faillers, of Sutter Creek, and his son Alex.
Phillip was returning to the county on Wednesday for Christmas after picking up, Alex, 27, in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The single-engine plane crashed near Sutter Creek, a town about 40 miles southeast of Sacramento. Wegner says authorities received a 911 call about the crash a little after 12:30 p.m. and found the two men dead when they arrived at the scene.
The plane was not far from an airport.
“It was horrible weather. I can’t imagine why these people were flying,” Ron Floyd, of Sutter Creek, said Wednesday.
FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said preliminary information indicated the plane was a Cessna 172.
