Another journalist was gunned down in Valencia town, Bukidnon on the evening of Nov. 29, according to a National Union of Journalists of the Philippines (NUJP) Alert Friday.
According to the NUJP, Joas Dignos, blocktime commentator at dxGT Radyo Abante in Maramag town, was in front the CAP Building at Sayre Highway, Valencia when the two yet-unidentified motorcycle-riding men assailants fired shots at him. Dignos died on the spot.
Bukidnon provincial police chief Glenn dela Torre said the assailants then fled to an unknown direction. An investigation into the incident was now being conducted.
The NUJP reports nearly six months ago, on June 2, two unidentified men lobbed a hand grenade at the dxGT studios, partially damaging the station and leaving a utility man hurt.
The June 2 incident happened at around 8:10 am, while the station was airing a recorded edition of “Bombardeo”, Dignos’ commentary program.
Earlier, Cocoy Medina, dxGT Program Director, told NUJP Dignos had been taping his program at that time since he started receiving death threats on his cell phone.
No motive for the killing has been established.
