Philippines: Radio announcer, Mario Vendiola Baylosis, shot dead in Zamboanga Sibugay province
A radio announcer for Radyo Natin’s dxLM-FM 101.7, located in Kabansalan in the southern Philippines was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen Monday morning, according to a Gulf News report.
Mario Vendiola Baylosis, 33 of Barangay Goodyear, Kabasalan town in Zamboanga Sibugay was killed Monday morning before noon while driving his motorbike home from work when the two suspects riding-tandem on a motorcycle came upon Baylosis and shot him at least three times.
Baylosis was rushed to a local hospital, but was declared dead on arrival.
Zamboanga Peninsula police spokesman Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca disclosed to SunStar that Baylosis reported to police that he received a death threat.
The gunmen fled the scene and now at large. Authorities have yet to determine the motive for the killing as he was not a controversial commentator.
