Philippines ‘Not Banned’ from future beauty contests

The headline reads–“PHILIPPINES DISQUALIFIED FROM BEAUTY PAGEANTS FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS”.

This may clearly shake up many people on the archipelago that has had so much success in beauty pageants in 2013 if it were true.

The bogus story comes from the Philippine website, The Adobo Chronicles, a site dedicated to, in their own words, “pseudo-journalism”.

They “reported” last week:

The  Association of Beauty Pageant Franchise Holders (ABPFH) has banned the Philippines from future international beauty competitions, citing “enormous advantage” by Filipina candidates in practically all pageants this year.

They cite after the victories of Megan Young (Miss World), Mutya Datul (Miss Supranational), and third runner-up showings by Ariella Arida and Annalie Forbes in the Miss Universe and Miss Grand International competitions, respectively as the reason for the disqualification.

“ABPFH said that it is time for the Philippines to give other countries the chance to win international beauty competitions, adding that “the world already knows how beautiful and talented Filipinas are.”

Of course, this posting on the Adobo Chronicles is a farce, and they admit it.

They state on their website, “THE ADOBO CHRONICLES  is your source of up-to-date, unbelievable news. Everything you read on this site is based on fact, except for the lies.

“We abide by the highest standards of pseudo-journalism and intend to make this site as respectable as possible to the extent allowed by our fertile mind.”

So don’t worry Philippines, the country is Not Banned from future beauty contests.
