Philippines: Negrense nurse working in Saudi Arabia dies from MERS coronavirus
A 45-year-old Filipina nurse from Negros Occidental, who was employed in a Saudi Arabian hospital, has died as a result of an infection with the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome coronavirus (MERS_CoV) Tuesday, according to reports in local Philippine media today.

In a follow-up to an earlier report concerning the Philippines Department of Health (DOH) attempting to contact all the passengers on Etihad Airlines flight EY0424 that arrived at NAIA from Abu Dhabi last April 15, health officials say of the 414 passengers in the said flight, 401 were tested negative for MERS-CoV.
The 14-day incubation period for the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus (MERS-CoV) has long ended without any passenger, who arrived in the Philippines via Etihad Airways flight 0424 last April 15, having acquired the novel virus.
While only 401 out of the 414 were tested, DOH MERS-CoV spokesperson Dr. Lyndon Lee Suy said that since the remaining 13 showed no signs of symptoms of the disease, they were as good as cleared.
