Pennsylvania high school attacker identified as Alex Hribal, ‘hero’ Nate Scimio takes selfie
Twenty people were injured during a stabbing rampage at a Pennsylvania high school early Wednesday, authorities said. A student, described by some as a hero, gets treated at a hospital and sends out a selfie which is going viral across the Internet.
Alex Hribal, the 16-year-old sophomore identified as the attacker at Frankiln Regional High School, was armed with two knives. Nineteen students and an adult security guard were injured, officials said.
That school officer subdued the knifeman, who is now expected to be charged as an adult.
Nate Scimio is making the headlines for heroics and his unorthodox selfie.
Matt DeCasare, 17, a junior at Franklin Regional High School, told BuzzFeed: “[The attacker] was coming at this one girl with a knife. Apparently Nate Scimio stepped in the way and acted heroically and was able to push the one girl away and saved her from being stabbed.”
Other students tweeted more details of Scimio keeping his head and even pulling the fire alarm.
Of course, the buzz is really over Scimio posting an Instagram selfie from the hospital with his fresh bandage.

I don’t give a rat’s hind quarters if this kid was bullied. I was bullied for years, beaten up, shoved, taunted, called names, had my head slammed into a water fountain, etc., and you know what? I never stabbed ANYONE. I never attempted suicide. I didn’t shoot up a school or hurt innocent people and do you know why? Because I was raised by two parents who taught me the value of life. They also raised me with discipline and help me learn the value of self control and selflessness. Unfortunately, these traditional values are largely lost in our current me-first, instant gratification, gimme-gimme-gimme, self-esteem without any meaningful accomplishment culture. Stop blaming games, cartoons, and bullies. The blame lies squarely in a culture that has almost completely removed the concept of right and wrong, honor, or integrity in favor of varying shades of gray.
