Pat Patterson previews faith-based films ‘Gracia’ and ‘Play Ball’

Actress and producer Pat Patterson is busy these days as the faith-based film business has boomed and upcoming projects like Gracia, an adaptation of the Kairos Award winning screenplay for Play Ball as well as acting roles on Blacklist or My Bakery in Brooklyn.

“It has that middle of the country feel,” Pat says of Gracia, adding that the deals with issues “typical teenage problems of pregnancy, decisions that are made and the cruelty of high school children…”

How Gracia impacts people, ending with a “beautiful dance sequence” is the powerful nucleus of the film, written and directed by Tom Simes, which had began as a play. They “did a two hour trailer…the whole film and got investers…”

Play Ball is an awarding winning screenplay optioned by Pat and moving quickly through the adaptation process. She details how an odd sequence of events led her to the Kairos Award-winner and the great script.
