Paramount delays ‘Jack Ryan Shadow Recruit’ as ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ set to move to Christmas
Paramount Pictures making some release date changes as rumors have been swirling that director Martin Scorsese is unable to make the November release date for The Wolf of Wall Street.
The studio announced that Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, the franchise reboot which will star Chris Pine as the titular character, will slide back to a January 17, 2014 release.
This official change to delay the Jack Ryan film directed by Kenneth Branagh sets up the liklihood that Scorsese’s film will move to the Christmas Day release, now vacated by Shadow Recruit.
Based on the Tom Clancy character, Jack Ryan battles financial terrorism. A January release for the international thriller was probably not what Branagh had in mind, but the pic should stand head and shoulders above its competition in early 2014.
The January 17th date, where it squares off against the comedy Ride Along, the animated pic The Nut Job, and the small-scale horror film Devil’s Due, seems like an easy win for the film.
