O’Shea Jackson says ‘Godzilla 2’ will have massive showdown with King Ghidorah
Godzilla: King of the Monsters star O’Shea Jackson teases that Godzilla and King Ghidorah will have an unforgettably epic showdown. Jackson says he’s “foaming at the mouth” to see the two battle.
While promoting Den of Thieves, Jackson said: “As a Godzilla fan, I know that I was shocked to find out that the second movie has King Ghidorah, like, King Ghidorah is the Godzilla bad guy, like, three-headed golden dragon that shoots lightning, is gonna be in the movie that I’m in!”
Jackson told Collider: ” We got Mothra, we got Rodan, and we got King Ghidorah all in the same film, and in the last scene between Godzilla and King Ghidorah, I promise you, you will never forget it, in your life. As a nerd, I am foaming at the mouth to get in the editing room… Godzilla will be the number 1 movie. The way that [Godzilla] and Ghidorah fight… man… Kong better bring some s**t.”
The villain first appeared in 1964’s Ghidorah, The Three-Headed Monster, a film which included Rodan and Mothra, the same two monsters who will appear in King of the Monsters.
Ghidorah’s last movie appearance came 17 years ago with Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack in 2001.
Jackson’s closing remark points to the 2020 release of Godzilla vs Kong, set to start production in Georgia.
Sally Hawkins (Dr. Vivienne Graham) and Ken Watanabe (Dr. Ishiro Serizawa) are back as the crypto-zoological agency Monarch scientists introduced in the 2014 Godzilla film.
New cast members include Millie Bobby Brown of Stranger Things, Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga, Bradley Whitford and Zhang Ziyi. Aisha Hinds (Star Trek Into Darkness), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley) and Randy Havens (Stranger Things) also have roles.
Official Synopsis: “The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths – rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.”
Godzilla: King of the Monsters is set for release on March 22nd, 2019
