‘On the Scene’ with Shamcey Supsup features the scoop on the National Costume Show

Miss Universe 2011 third runner-up Shamcey Supsup and host of the “behind the scenes” YouTube program for this years Miss Universe contest featured the Miss Universe National Costume Show in it’s  first web episode, according to the Miss Universe web page Monday.

In this episode, the Miss Philippines 2011 went backstage with the 89 contestants to learn more about the “inspiration” behind their national costumes.

In the four minute video, the beautiful Miss Supsup got the costume “scoop” with Miss Trinidad and Tobago who wore a large red butterfly and Miss New Zealand who told the hostess that  her “one-of-a-kind” costume was inspired by the silver fern and fresh spring water associated with her country.

Miss Malaysia, Kimberley Leggett said her dress was “humongous” and weighed 50 kg.

She even got the chance to chat backstage with this year’s representative from the Philippines, Janine Tugonon.  Janine explained that she departed from the traditional “Filipiniana” outfit and went with a costume to pay tribute to her Muslim countryman.

Probably the wildest costume was from Miss Curacao, Monifa Jansen, who wore huge steel wings as part of her costume. She described it as like having a person on her back.

The National Costume show was held last Saturday, local time, at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.
