Omar Mateen a ‘known wolf’ FBI investigated in 2013, 2014

There is new information on the horrific terror attack in Orlando that has killed at least 50 and wounded many more in the largest mass shooting in American history. Omar Mateen had previously been investigated by the FBI in 2013 and 2014, making this yet another “known wolf” Muslim terror attack.

“The senior law enforcement source reports that Mateen became a person of interest in 2013 and again in 2014. The Federal Bureau of Investigation at one point opened an investigation into Mateen but subsequently closed the case when it produced nothing that appeared to warrant further investigation,” the Beast notes.

“He’s a known quantity,” the source said. “He’s been on the radar before.”

Mateen was a U.S. citizen; his parents are from Afghanistan.

An imam speaking in Orlando in April said that killing gays according to Islamic law should be done “out of compassion” – watch the clip below. Now CAIR and other groups are doing damage control, trying to separate themselves from Mateen.

At a press conference, Muhammad Musri, the President of the Islamic Society of Central Florida, disavowed contact Mateen and praised emergency workers.

“No one could have predicted this. It’s like lightening. It can strike anywhere,” he stated. “They did a marvelous job and we are glad the situation is under control. This shooter is not connected with other people, so citizens should continue to feel safe.”

On Twitter and Facebook, Musri wrote: “On behalf of American Muslims, I want to express our outrage and shock of the mass shooting in DT Orlando, FL. Our thoughts and prayers are with victims & their families.”

Mateen reportedly called 911 and praised Islamic State moments before the attack.

Islamic State recently called on Muslims across the world to attack targets in the West during the holy month of Ramadan, which began last week.

The message came in an audio recording from spokesman Abu Mohammed al-Adnani, released in May. Muslims around the world fast during Ramadan in honor of the first revelation from God to Muhammad. The terrorist group believes it to be a particularly opportune time for attacks.

“Ramadan, the month of conquest and jihad. Get prepared, be ready… to make it a month of calamity everywhere for the non-believers… especially for the fighters and supporters of the caliphate in Europe and America,” Adnani said.
