Ohio mumps outbreak tops 300
The mumps outbreak in Central Ohio, including the Ohio State University keeps rollin’ along as officials with Columbus Public Health reports the case count has eclipsed 300 as of today.

In a daily update press release from Columbus Public Health’s Jose Rodriguez, the total cases as of today is 303 linked to the Franklin and Delaware counties’ community outbreak. To date, 182 cases have been linked to The Ohio State University outbreak.
Health officials note the central Ohio mumps outbreak now has more than half as many mumps cases as there were nationwide last year.

Central Ohio is also in the midst of a measles outbreak, in which there are 26 confirmed cases as of Wednesday.
As the investigation of the local mumps outbreak continues, Columbus Public Health, Franklin County Public Health and the Delaware General Health District health commissioners urge individuals at highest risk of mumps to get vaccinated with the measles-mumps-rubella (MMR).
