NSA Whistleblower Edward Snowden passport revoked, Wikileaks founder says it’s a ‘disgrace’

The former National Security Agency contractor who disclosed a highly classified surveillance program has had his U.S. passport revoked, but may do little other than strand the man in Russia. Wikileaks founder Julian Assange says “it’s a disgrace” and will nothing to slow or stop the flow of information being released.

“The United States, by cancelling his passport, has left him for the moment marooned in Russia,” Assange said in an interview aired Sunday on ABC’s “This Week.” “I think that every citizen has the right to their citizenship, to take someone’s principle form of citizenship their passport, is a disgrace.”

“He is a hero,” Assange said of Snowden, “He has told the people of the world and the United States that there is mass unlawful interception of their communications.”

Assange, who spoke from the Ecuadorian embassy where he has received political asylum, founded WikiLeaks, which disclosed widespread classified information. He disagreed with claims that Snowden’s leaks would put people in harms way, saying the same was said about him and that proved to be false.

He spoke little about the circumstances Snowden, who is stuck in the Moscow airport, presently finds himself.

“Our legal people have been in contact with Mr. Snowden,” Assange said. “I can’t say anything about the present situation.”

Assange said he will continue to try to help Snowden.

“I have a personal sympathy for Mr. Snowden,” Assange said. “We did what we could and will continue to try to help him through.”

Snowden’s allies said he was heading toward Ecuador, where the foreign minister said the government had received a request for asylum.

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki refused to comment on Snowden’s passport specifically but said individuals facing arrest warrants could have their passport withdrawn.

“Such a revocation does not affect citizenship status. Persons wanted on felony charges, such as Mr. Snowden, should not be allowed to proceed in any further international travel other than is necessary to return him to the United States,” Psaki said in a statement.

The very fact that they, (Americans) are spying on us (Outside the US) and other governments knowingly allow this, is chilling in itself; the velvet glove of real terror! The fact they claim, “we gather data on everyone else” but we do not look at those of Americans, is an admission of tyrannical proportions which fuels the creation of terrorist in the first place: What right do they have to come into other countries, invade people’s privacy, thwart citizen right of that country and their laws and if they protest, label them “terrorist”? This has convoluted activity has been taking place for many years, that is how terrorist, have come to be; the US invading other people’s lands, directly or indirectly, fueling resentment against them (Americans) and based on the degree of their international reach, creating terrorists who in turn, resort to violence because they feel powerless to express their pain against such a monolithic superpower that has no checks or balance. A country which believes that it is above international law: The International Court of Justice ( The USA, withdrew from the ICJ, in 2005, not accepting compulsory jurisdiction): This means that the USA, can go into any country, commit the most hideous of international crimes and no one “US citizen” can be prosecuted against crimes against humanity by the International Court: What an arrogant people, who talk the talk about rights, democracy and freedom for everyone (guardians of the free world) but do not walk the walk, when it comes to acknowledging reality. They complain about the Chinese breaking into their systems to steal corporate and military secretes as if that is something they don’t do themselves. The irony being that in this case with Prism, ANY less idealistic “Snowden” is already selling such personal information (individual or corporate) to the highest capitalist bidder our there: The system (US Government) has created a monstrous spying infrastructure which just begs to be abused to the detriment of individual rights and freedoms; they trampling on their own model constitution, one of which has been the envy of freedom loving people world over and is being usurped by “real” terror. The only way forward is for us to encourage and protect whistle-blowers such as Edward Snowden, Bradley Edward Manning and Julian Assange: Please help support such an effort by going to the link below or Google,”Julian Assange, freedom of the press, Avaaz”.

UNITED STATES OF AMERICA HAS PLACED ITSELF IN SUCH AN INTENSELY BLAMEFUL POSITION THAT IF Edward Snowden “STUBS HIS TOE” IT WILL LOOK LIKE A CARRIED-OUT SENTENCE FOR TREASON.
