North Cotabato beauty, Mary Jean Lastimosa, crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2014

The competition was stiff last night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum as 40 talented and beautiful Filipinas vied for the sought after title of  Bb. Pilipinas Universe.

26-year-old North Cotabato native and Davao City business owner, Mary Jean Lastimosa topped the 39 other women to grab the crown of Miss Universe Philippines 2014 and represent the country in the  63rd Miss Universe pageant later this year.

Lastimosa now follows in the footsteps in recent success stories at the Miss Universe pageant to include  Ariella Arida (Miss Universe 2013 runner-up), Janine Tugonon (Miss Universe 2012 1st runner-up), Shamcey Supsup (Miss Universe 2011 3rd runner-up), and Venus Raj (Miss Universe 4th runner-up 2010).

Mary Jean, an entrepreneur and fitness advocate,  successfully established her own slimming center in Davao. In her free time, she loves working out at the gym, travelling, modeling, dancing, and surfing social media websites.

The other big winners last night include Bb Pilipinas – Intercontinental: 24 year old Cebuana Kris Tiffany Janson , Bb Pilipinas – Supranational: 20 year old Albay CPA Yvethe Marie Santiago, Bb Pilipinas – Tourism: 25 year old Registered Nurse from Pangasinan, Half-Indian and half-Filipino Parul Shah and Bb Pilipinas – International: 24 year old Mary Anne Bianca Guidotti from Taguig.

The pageant was hosted by Filipino celebs Xian Lim and Anne Curtis and beauty queens Shamcey Supsup and Venus Raj.

Reigning Miss Universe Gabriela Isler of Venezuela was also at the event  to help crown this year’s Binibining Pilipinas winners.
