North Carolina human trafficking sting leads to arrests of Autumn Beal, Gregory Sterling, Alicia Halstead
The FBI and Hagerstown Police Department charged three people during a human-trafficking sting that was conducted Tuesday at hotels in the city.
Hagerstown police said in a news release that the undercover operation produced three arrests out of six contacts.
Charged were Autumn Jesie Beal, 18, of Newport, N.C.; Gregory David Sterling, 29, of Durham, N.C.; and Alicia Sue Halstead, 33, of West Virginia.
Police said Beal was charged with prostitution-general, and Sterling was charged with prostitution-business and human trafficking-compensation.
Halstead was arrested on outstanding warrants from Virginia and West Virginia.
All three were taken to the Washington County Detention Center.
