Noomi Rapace talks ‘Prometheus 2,’ Ridley Scott and asks is God the ‘antagonist’
Actress Noomi Rapace previewed the sequel to Prometheus while talking with MTV and hinted that director Ridley Scott may be adding villains in Prometheus 2. Scott has suggested that the Xenomorphs won’t feature next time around, so Rapace had to say who the chief antagonists is of the new film.
“God?” she suggests in an interview with MTV. “Or the Devil? I don’t know where [Scott] is going to take us, but I can’t wait to go there. I don’t know what we’re going to discover.”
With the engineers, Scott appeared to be displacing God and Satan from the creative process, an issue that many Christians took issue with. Rapace stays clear of theology and points out why her character has no problem with the journey.
“She can’t go to Earth,” says Rapace of her character, Elizabeth Shaw. “There’s nothing left for her there really. She wants to go where they came from, those creatures… so what’s there? I don’t know.”
Scott promised more Engineers and less of the H.R. Giger in his journey to explore an alien explanation for human beings: “I think we’ve found the next step. I thought the Engineers were quite a good start,” he said.
“You’ll probably have to go with [Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw] and [Michael Fassbender’s android David] – without his head. Find out how he gets his head back on!”
The article notes:
So, the new Prometheus sequel will be more interested in its own alien species revealed in the first film, the Engineers. They are seemingly the creators of human life, but still a lot of mystery surrounds them, such as the mysterious “shrine” to the Xenomorphs.
Scott will have Michael Fassbender back and Prometheus 2 is still set to arrive in theaters on March 6, 2016
