Nightcrawler, Gambit may be included in ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’

Director Bryan Singer returns to the X-Men franchise with this summer’s blockbuster X-Men: Days of Future Past, but that is just beginning with X-Men: Apocalypse coming next.x-men-days-of-future-past-poster-professor-xDuring an interview with Cine Premiere, Singer revealed that he was considering including a pair of fan favorite mutants in next X-Men chapter by adding Gambit and Nightcrawler.

“I’m considering Gambit and potentially a young Nightcrawler for Apocalypse,” says Singer. “I was going to have Nightcrawler [in Days of Future Past] and even wrote a scene, but I felt that we were forcing too many mutants into the story.”

“What happens in this movie brings about what’ll happen in that movie,” says Singer of the connective tissue between the two in a previous interview.

“One thing that interests me is the notion of ancient mutants,” explains Singer of the character. “What would people thousands of years ago, without the benefit of science, think mutants were? And more importantly, what would mutants thousands of years ago think they were? Gods? Titans? Angels? Demons? And if such mutants did exist thousands of years ago, what became of them? Did one survive?”

X-Men: Days of Future Past opens May 23, 2014.

X-Men: Apocalypse hits theaters screens in 2016.
