Nigeria: Islamic terrorists attack Catholic Church, burn down houses, take hostages, 62 Christians dead
An attack on a Catholic Church in Nigeria has left twenty-two Christians dead, burning down nearby houses and taking hostages while a separate attack on a village resulted in forty other deaths.
Thought to be the terrorist group Boko Haram, the attacker set off bombs and then opened fire on the Christian congregation leaving 22 members confirmed dead, says Reuters U.K. report.
A separate attack on Monday on the Kawuri village left at least 40 dead, but some witnessed claim the count is higher.
“The whole village has been razed by Boko Haram and there were still loud explosions from different directions as I left, with bodies littering the village,” said resident Bulama Kuliri, who narrowly escaped.
While Boko Haram, their name means ‘Western education is a sin,” has not officially claimed responsibility for the attacks, they are responsible for thousands and thousands of death over the last four years. The terrorist group believes Sharia Law should be instituted and the Christians should be killed.
Boko Haram’s slaughter of Christians in northern and central Nigeria has continued unabated so far in 2014,” said William Stark, regional manager for International Christian Concern.
Isaiah 66:5
Hear the word of the LORD, you who tremble at his word: “Your own people who hate you, and exclude you because of my name, have said, ‘Let the LORD be glorified, that we may see your joy!’ Yet they will be put to shame.
